From clinic to online pregnancy program with Katherine Baquie
Katherine Baquie is a mum of 3 young girls, a physiotherapist for women and one year ago, Kath launched her online community, FitNest Mama. Her program helps to provide pregnant and new mothers with exercises, support and resources to help them reduce the overwhelm, physical aches and pains of pregnancy and weakness felt after birth.
Through her program, Kath helps her members to increase their comfort and confidence to get their bodies and minds strong again so that they can get back to doing what they love with a bubba by their side (whether that’s running around with the kids at the park, or running the next marathon!)
Kath also has a podcast, the FitNest Mama Podcast, where each week she dives into all things pregnancy care, childbirth and postnatal recovery, helping you to have a wonderful pregnancy and after birth experience.
I’ve had the pleasure of working with Kath through both of my programs, most recently through Scalable to support Kath in creating her online program.
In this episode, we speak about the realities of running an online membership, what has surprised Kath the most about being an online program owner, what Kath has introduced to the program along the way with great success and Kath’s biggest advice to others looking to add an online program to their business.
If you feel the call to teach your craft to others, in a scalable way online, then join me for a fun, free and educational class on May 18th where I’ll share the 3 essentials of adding an online program to your business. This is a live class, so make sure you register for the link to join us. Just go to emilyosmond.com/scale to register. TOPICS DISCUSSED AND WHERE TO FIND THEM:
[3:30]: Kath used to always see clients face to face but being busy with children, she wanted to find a way to help women during the limited time she had. She decided that being proactive by sharing information online would be better than waiting until they had problems after birth.
[5:50]: Kath’s program evolved over time, starting off with pre recorded workouts then bringing in live workouts. From the start she knew she wanted to include modules for during pregnancy, childbirth and after birth recovery and her main concern was if she would have enough time.
[8:38]: Involving guest expert speakers each month changed the program in a very surprising way, making it a more holistic program which Kath is thrilled about
[9:30]: Having the monthly guest speakers helped to make women feel more engaged with the program and also help to answer questions that Kath wasn’t an expert in answering
[11:00]: Working in the clinic is very insular but running the online program and podcast has created a wonderful network of individuals and created a flexibility in her schedule
[13:30]: The membership has been open for 1 year and she’s now at the point where she needs to outsource some administrative tasks
[14:45]: The podcast has been outsourced from the beginning with Bamby Media and in the last month Kath has hired a virtual assistant. She is still figuring out the balance between work and life with kids.
[16:00]: Launching with a handful of mums and now the membership has grown to over 130 women. Kath has always loved her work and now she loves it even more.
[17:30]: Ignorance is bliss – if you feel that you have information to share, dive into it. The program can evolve and be moulded to what your members want and need.
[19:30]: Kath is now focusing on consolidating what she’s been building and adapting the program to make it the best it can be. Every new member brings something different and she’s enjoying how it evolves.
[20:35]: Scalable laid everything out that Kath needed to do and she implemented everything to launch just in time for when covid hit
