How to manage the fear of competitors copying your work
As business owners, who are the face of our brand, we can sometimes develop a fear surrounding competitors copying our work which leads us to hide it away, hold it close and not put it out there.
In this episode, I’m sharing how to manage the fear of competitors copying your work and give you three different ways to reframe it to help you get yourself out there more and move past worry.
It’s important to remember that we are all unique with our own personal flavour and take on any given product or service. If you have built your brand by showing your authentic self, competitors will just not be able to copy your content with the same effect.
I absolutely don’t want you to hide your amazing content away from the world because of copycats. You’ll miss out on connecting with your ideal client and building up a content bank that will see you grow your audience in alignment with your brand and message.
Come back to this episode again when you need a refresher on how to reframe your fear to move through it and keep putting your content and your fantastic self out into the world.
Topics we discussed:
[1:15]: Our day out for The Modern Marketing Collective is happening this week on Friday! It can get very lonely as a business owner so it’s absolutely amazing to have the opportunity to meet together, network and become friends with other people who completely understand what it’s like running a business.
[3:42]: I often hear from my clients that they have a fear of putting their work out there, publishing content, or sharing what they’re doing because they’re worried a competitor may copy them.
[4:29]: We all have our own flavour and take. The more we lean into being ourselves, the more we’ll attract people to us.
[5:11]: 3 different ways to reframe our fear. #1 Competitors can replicate our ideas but they can’t replicate us.
[6:04]: The businesses that look to our businesses will always be lagging behind.
[7:14]: #2 Thinking (and remembering) that there is so much work out there.
[9:00]: #3 Reflect on who is your content helping. When you’re not sharing your ideas, your ideal clients will miss out and you won’t build up a content bank.
[10:14]: Are you spending your time and energy worrying about your competitors? Or are you coming up with new ideas, new ways of doing things and serving your clients?
