As entrepreneurs, it’s easy to get stuck in the hustle. We have a never ending to-do list and not enough hours in the day. Sleep becomes a luxury and we find ourselves barely operating in a state of anxiety, exhaustion and even burnout.
If any of this sounds familiar, I’m delighted to introduce you to my guest today, an experienced naturopath, coach, speaker and mind body specialist, Vesna Hrsto. Vesna helps high performing business women battling mental and physical exhaustion to regain control of their mind and body so there’s nothing they can’t do.
In this episode, we talk about how and why to optimise your body in order to optimise your business performance. Vesna talks about creating a recovery plan and shares her insights on the incredible benefits of sleep, fixing up your diet and how anxiety and overwhelm is one of the biggest interrupters to our productivity.
We talk about the impact of psychological stress and how our bodies are a reflection of what’s happening in our minds. Vesna talks about how negative thinking leads to anxiety and physical changes our biochemistry, which makes a huge impact on our energy levels and therefore our business.
If you’re lacking energy, feeling anxious or overwhelmed in your business, this is absolutely the episode for you.
Topics discussed and where to find them:
[2:20]: I was operating in quite a masculine energy when I first started my business. There is a hustle in the beginning but we need to balance it with self care and recovery. Having energy is the edge in your business.
[3:45]: A lot of people get stuck in a place where they’re not getting things done and their energy is really drained. When you have energy and brain power, you do better work in a faster time.
[5:20]: Burnout is not just about working big hours. The psychological stress makes a big impact. Having a recovery plan is really important, just like athletes.
[6:30]: Sleep is the one thing that would help so many people. This is when our body repairs especially in the hours before midnight.
[7:55]: Set an alarm to remind you to start winding down for bed. Start taking the hours back slowly if you’re used to going to bed really late.
[9:40]: Know your priorities so that your productivity is effective. People get caught up in busyness out of anxiety. 1 hour of uninterrupted work is more effective than 3 hours of interrupted work.
[11:15]: When you’re tired, you’re just doing the basics because you don’t have the mental capacity to be creative and do focussed work.
[11:50]: Have a blood check up to see if there are any imbalances in your body. Look at basic nutrition such as taking sugar out, eating regular meals to keep your energy stable.
[14:10]: Anxiety and overwhelm is one of the biggest interrupters to our productivity.
[16:00]: Become aware of what it is for you that causes anxiety and overwhelm. Our thinking changes our biochemistry which affects the way we perform.
[17:15]: The first thing Vesna does is clean up the diet. Unless you improve your own productivity, it’s very difficult to improve the productivity of your business.
[18:50]: A lot of people find it difficult to catch their thinking but your body will show the signs.
[19:45]: Optimise your body, mind and self. Pathology test, good nutrition, hormones, gut, adrenal and system repair. Do some education around mindset work to get your edge in business.
[21:15]: Vesna shares a story about a client with extreme anxiety and panic attacks where she needed to be hospitalised. Correcting her diet and mindset completely changed everything.
